What happens when you have 6,875 drummers and percussionists in one place? Outside of a very loud noise, you have a PAS convention. What is PAS, you ask? The Percussive Arts Society – a fancy name for a drummer's organization. Their international convention is the only place in the world that brings together the best drum and percussion artists and educators on the planet. This year’s International Convention (PASIC) was held this year in Austin, Texas.
Among the banging of drums and the crash of cymbals, SKB was there to introduce our new drum case products. The SKB-DH3315W, drum hardware case was a popular product with the attendees. We received a lot of comments on the perfect size for the gigging musician. We are always amazing to see how excited drummers get about their cases! We should make a lot of weekend drummers happy with this case.
The other big hit of the show was our new 24" rolling cymbal vault. Not only does the case hold the latest 24" "mega" rides, everyone was glad that they could now roll in their hunk of brass rather than dislocate a shoulder on load-in.
PASIC is always an exhausting three days, but everyone leaves inspired to be a better drummer or percussionist. It's always good to hear from drummers about what SKB is doing right and sometimes what we are not. From the comments that we received from players, I am sure we will be introducing some new products that will be the rave of next year's show. However, not all ideas are practical, like a series of cases for Taiko drums or a rolling Triangle Vault case. You won’t be seeing those cases anytime soon.
