Orange, CA — SKB cases has recently finished construction and installation of a new injection molding machine, notably the largest of its kind on the west coast. This new injection molder joins SKB’s arsenal of molding machines in increasing the company’s capabilities for larger injection molded case (iSeries) sizes and overall production capacity.
After acquiring the machine in August of 2021, SKB embarked on a year-long planning, engineering, demolition and construction project to accommodate it. Once a very large pit was excavated and shored up with new concrete foundations, installation of the crane and the machine itself began in November of 2022 and wrapped in March.
“An essential part of being and staying successful in this industry is constant innovation, something SKB really takes to heart and applies in a way that our competitors often don’t,” shares Dave Sanderson, SKB’s Co-founder. “This new machine—which is the largest injection molder west of the Mississippi—will enable us to expand our iSeries sizes and molding capabilities, which then opens up even more opportunities for innovation—for us and our customers.”
The new injection molder is currently at work producing some large custom military cases, and SKB anticipates at least five new iSeries sizes in the coming year to make use of these expanded capabilities.
